Indianapolis Table Tennis

Hey All! Since I wrote my first post in July of 2025, the committee of people interested in developing a new table tennis club for Indianapolis has worked hard to find a new place. While we have not been able to find a dedicated space like the one that previously existed on West 79th Street, a new place to play has arisen at a local pickleball club–Indianapolis Pickleball Club North (“IPCN”), located at 12520 E 116th Street in the northern suburb of Fishers, Indiana.

IPCN has really been enthusiastic about adding table tennis at their large, modern facility! They recently even added the words “Table Tennis” to the huge new sign on the side of the building! A lot of local players are quite appreciative of this new place to play.

Because play is new at this facility, the play schedule and space inside the facility is still a bit of a work in progress. While you will see evening and morning sessions on pretty much every day of the week (shown on the IPCN Calendar as “Ping Pong Open Play”), the only days with significant TT play as of this writing are Tuesday and Friday evenings (from about 6:30-9:30) and late afternoons on Sundays (shown on the calendar spanning from 3 to 7pm). A players group has also developed on Thursday mornings from about 10am to maybe 1 pm (people with better info about times please email me and I will update). As more people learn about this facility and more people attend, the active days will likely expand, but for now these appear to be the main days/times when you can show up and expect to find other people to play.

IPCN expects players to use its CourtReserve app to sign up for sessions (you can stop by at IPCN and ask them about the app if you have any problems getting it working for you). As I understand it, the fee for a single drop-in is $15, but a membership with the ability to drop in for multiple open play sessions per month can be had for $49 ($39 for seniors and other categories). IPCN also accepts Silver Sneakers (and another similar program), which is great! You will want to follow any changes to these prices as time goes on, but these numbers represent my best understanding as of now.

There are a couple of other facilities offering table tennis in the metropolitan area, which I hope to present in another post in the near future after I verify some details, so check back for future blog posts!

Hello All! Perhaps like many of you, I grew up with a table in the basement, which brought many hours of fun. I went on to play some recreational table tennis in college and at clubs in the 1980s in Rockford, Illinois and when I moved to Indianapolis. I always loved the game, but it wasn’t until Dave Stout opened his club on West 79th Street in Indy 6+ years ago that I started to take the sport more seriously and really came to enjoy trying to get better at it.

Dave Stout, as with subsequent owners Patrick, Anton and Anish and owners of clubs before the one on W 79th, along with some great coaches, really raised the level of play in the city. With the recent dissolution of the clubs on W 79th, it is time for those of us who benefited from past clubs to come together and ensure that the growth in the sport continues in Indianapolis.

For that reason, a group of players has formed an organizing committe to seek out new facilities and a financial plan for moving forward. Unless we can find a new investor (or investors) who can bankroll a new facility, we may need to take smaller steps initially, which might mean we cannot have a dedicated facility at first. But experience at recent clubs has provided evidence that players in Indianapolis are willing to pay signficant monthly fees to play the game in a quality facility, and so we do believe that indianapolis can once again have a dedicated table tennis facility.
